Job OverView

Key Responsibilities:

  • Go through the plans received from bureaus then follow up on those stories with bureaus directly
  • Go through all news updates - newspapers, internet, wires, bureaus
  • Ensure that reports / clips / interviews coming from bureaus are ready for broadcast as soon as possible (within minutes)
  • Be proactive in suggesting stories, discussing stories & approving stories when needed
  • Keep close coordination with Editors & Producers on stories which need to be covered from newsroom to I.O. on one side & suggestions that are coming from bureaus to newsroom on the other side
  • Work on the assigned stories as communicated by Assignment Head from daily editorial meeting and follow up about the assigned approved stories with the international offices
  • Coordinate with correspondents about the preparation of stories clarifying all requirements in terms of idea, scope, angles to be covered
  • Coordinate with international offices Bureau chiefs and correspondents through out the day to follow up on the developments of the story requested
  • Coordinate with Satellite desk for required bookings
  • Make sure that the scripts of the stories received from bureaus have been looked at thoroughly by the Producers & Program Editors in the newsroom
  • Receive and review the final deliverables of correspondents in terms of:-

1- Quality (content, technically, and meeting initial idea and scope requirements).

2- Make sure that all requested items ( form and content ) are reflected in the story received

3- Make sure that the newsroom receives all requested stories and on time

4- Give honest feedback to the reporters

Skills & Competencies:

  • 3 – 5 years’ work experience in Media and News production in international newsroom
  • Experience in reports production processes
  • Experience in ideas, & all content assessment
  • Experience as Broadcast Journalist
  • Understand and be familiar with the latest broadcast technology
